How a machine looks, how it is put in front of people, and how it is built — one team in Foshan does all three.
Why 4°
At 4°C, carbon dioxide dissolves into water most readily, and the taste lands best. Cold enough to hold the gas. Warm enough to keep the aroma.
We named the company after the temperature at which two things meet at their best. We liked the metaphor. We liked that it was true even more.
But our name is 4°, not 4°C. 4°C is a measurement — precise, narrow, and impossible to build a brand on. 4° is the state we keep asking after: just right.
A little warmer and the gas slips away; a little colder and so does the aroma. Machines are the same: one process too many is waste, one too few is an apology. So we push every “close enough” back a notch, until it is right.
Which is why, to us, 4° was never only a temperature. It is how we look at problems.
One line, because it does get asked: 4° is a brand, not a temperature setting. 4° and 四度 are the same name in two scripts — the same machines, the same drawings, the same factory in Foshan, Guangdong.
Drink Different

We started because every soda maker on the shelf made the same drink. The same water, the same one-button hiss, the same 500 ml of nothing new. But CO₂ is not picky — it will sparkle tea, coffee, wine, juice, even fruit straight off the branch. The machines were the limitation, not the idea.
So we rebuilt the machine.
Since 2013
A decade of 4°, one year at a time.
We started in 2013 — thirteen years ago now. Nothing on this line is a rebrand: the same companies, still ours, the same team in Foshan, the same studio holding the drawings. What moved, year by year, is the work.

Started in Foshan
Foshan Shunde Four Degree Technology Co., Ltd. opens as our contracting and export office — orders are signed here, and the drawings are ours from day one. Not a trading desk out looking for a factory.
- 2015
The first patents come through
Three in one year: two for the soda maker’s appearance, one for a machine with a safety fitting. The mechanism stops being something we only talk about.
- 2016
Our own stand, on our own drawings
The Shanghai hotel supplies show. Our studio issues the 3D render and the shop drawings, and the booth is built to them. The drawings and the photograph are both still on file.
- 2017
Five shows in twelve months
Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong — plus new stand designs for Beijing and Shenzhen. One design language, built five times from our own drawings.
- 2018
We start building our own factory
Ground is broken in June on our own plant in Foshan — Foshan Mia Electrical Appliance Manufacturing. Injection, bottle blowing, assembly, inspection and packing all move under one roof.
- 2019
Hong Kong company, and the gas supply patents
HK 4 Degree Co., Ltd. is set up in Hong Kong in August as our design and export arm. The same year brings patents on the sparkling-water machine’s gas supply unit — one in China, one in Hong Kong.
- 2020–2021
Pressure release, and the bottle
Patents for automatic and manual pressure release, for a drinking device and bottle, and for a management system for the machines. Safety stops being a component we buy in.
- 2023–2024
The generation you see today
Designs filed for SING, SHANGX and SMARTZZI, and for a machine that carbonates without a release step. The range in this catalogue starts here.
- 2026
Where it stands now
5,000 m² of factory, 8 engineers, 60 granted patents across 4° and MIA — 56 of them still in force. Machines in North America, Northern Europe, Japan, Korea and Oceania; food-grade PET bottles to Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, South America and Africa.

Taste
It has to be worth drinking. If it isn’t, nothing else matters.

It has to be made now, by the person drinking it.

It has to look like something you want on your counter.
Who you’re working with
Three entities, one team — the contracting company since 2013, our own factory from 2018, the Hong Kong design and export office since 2019. We didn’t rent a factory to look bigger than we are.

Questions buyers ask us about 4°
→ Is 4° one company, or three?
Three, and we name them. Foshan Shunde Four Degree Technology Co., Ltd., founded 2013 — contracting and export. Foshan Mia Electrical Appliance Manufacturing Co., Ltd. — our own plant, built from June 2018, with injection moulding, blow moulding, assembly, inspection and packing under one roof. HK 4 Degree Co., Ltd., founded August 2019 — design and export. One team, three sets of books, and we would rather you knew which one you are talking to.
→ Why 4° and not 4°C?
4°C is where carbon dioxide and water meet best — that is where the name came from, and it is a fact rather than a slogan. But a name that points at one temperature cannot carry a brand, and we are more than one temperature. 4° means just right: one degree more and the gas will not stay, one degree less and the aroma is gone. It is also how we treat every “close enough” — push it back one notch.
→ How long have you been doing this?
Since 2013 — thirteen years of designing, tooling and shipping soda makers and counter-top water dispensers. In 2018 we stopped renting capacity and started building our own plant instead, which is why we can tell you what happens at each step rather than asking somebody else.
→ Can we visit the factory?
Yes. The plant is in Beijiao, Shunde, Foshan — about 45 minutes by car from the Canton Fair complex in Pazhou, so during the show it is usually a half-day trip. You will see the moulds, the 300 m² clean-room blow-moulding shop, the two 100% high-pressure inspection stations and the 2 MPa burst rig. Bring an engineer; the tour makes more sense that way.
→ What can I check before committing to anything?
Things you can verify without us: the patent list as a PDF, the certificate scans, and the factory numbers — 5,000 m², 2,000 machines and 3,200 bottles a day. Inspection before shipment is yours, by AQL or by your own agent. Nothing here asks you to trust first and verify later.
What we won’t do
- We won’t sell you a machine we didn’t design.
- We won’t hand our drawings to someone else and hope.
- We won’t ship a bottle we wouldn’t put on our own table.
