Sparkling water, built into the fridge.

A global smart-appliance brand wanted sparkling water to come out of a refrigerator door — not from one more machine on the worktop. We developed the carbonation module, built the prototypes, tooled it and proved it on our own test bench. It shipped in 2026.

What the brand needed

A refrigerator with a carbonation function is a different problem from a countertop soda maker. Four constraints shaped the whole project.

01

Carbonation at the dispenser

Sparkling water had to come out of the refrigerator door — not from one more appliance taking up worktop space.

02

A bottle that lives in the fridge

The bottle has to sit in the door, stay cold, and still line up with the dispenser when a family member picks it up and fills it.

03

One button anyone can use

The door panel does the work: press for sparkling, press again for still water. No app, no separate machine, no learning curve.

04

A launch date that could not move

Concept, prototype, tooling and volume production on a fixed timeline — for a brand that could not afford a rework cycle.

What we did

We worked as the brand's engineering and manufacturing partner under a development agreement: structure, prototype, tooling, trial production, then volume.

The design and the intellectual property belong to the brand. That is the arrangement — and it is exactly why brands hand us work they cannot afford to get wrong.

  1. Step 1

    Structure

Layout and mechanism designed around the space inside the appliance.

  2. Step 2

    Prototype

Working samples built in our own workshop and tested as units.

  3. Step 3

    Tooling & trial

Moulds, fixtures and trial production runs with first-article checks.

  4. Step 4

    Volume

Two 100% high-pressure inspections per machine, on the same line that builds our own.

Evidence

We did not hand over a drawing and hope.

Our engineers built multi-station life-cycle rigs in our own workshop and ran the carbonation module continuously before release. Prototypes were tested as complete units, not as parts on a bench.

That habit does not stop at development. Every machine that leaves our floor gets a 100% high-pressure inspection — twice, once at sub-assembly and once fully assembled — and every batch of PET bottles gets a 2 MPa burst test so it holds 1.8 MPa without failing.

Client test data is not ours to publish, so this page shows the method rather than the numbers.

How it ran

  1. Jan 2025

Development agreement signed for the carbonation module.

  2. Apr 2025

First connector and valve prototypes built and reviewed.

  3. 2025

Integration into the appliance, then continuous life-cycle testing.

  4. 2026

    Shipped.
